Fundacja Salony, ul. Fabryczna 13b, Zielona Góra
Exhibition open till 21.12.2014

The exhibition is an outcome of Janina Wick’s stay in Zielona Góra. The German photographer came to the town on the artist-in-residence programme 2013-2014. Wick deals with portrait photography of young people that she meets in the street, in parks, in school or during extra activities. Inspired by memories of her own youth her work recalls this time of extreme emotional states, when great expectations and disappointments, euphoria and uncertainty, curiosity and boredom were so close together. ‘To me, youth means looking for something without knowing exactly what it is that you look for: an idea of new possibilities in the air, a hope for something that is not yet, but could be.’ Although Wick’s photography is documentary, she allows her models to pose, to put themselves across in the way adults do.

Janina Wick (1976) – photographer, studied at Fachhochschule Hannover and Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Hamburg. Laureate of the C/O Berlin Talent Preis (2008) and the Aenne- Biermann – Preis (2013). Her works were presented in Kunsthaus Hamburg, C/O Berlin, Galerie Reckmann in Koln, Goethe Institut in Washington DC, Fotomuseum Wintherthur in Switzerland.
