Parks were always spectacular monuments of their times, featuring the most recent technical innovations, the newest aesthetics, and contemporary lifestyle elements. During the Baroque period they were full of splendor and imposed order on fauna and flora. Later, during Classicism, they stood in harmony with nature and made architectonic references to Ancient history. Millennium Park will also be a reflection of its contemporaneity, and “Virgin Area” will exist as the trace of wild urban nature and what remained after conversion of cementry in this site in 1965.The project conceived by Gregor Rozanski for Millenium Park in Zielona Gora, consists of isolating a small area of the park to be left untouched during a period of surrounding revitalization, thus creating a baseline to highlight the long-term changes of the area. The exhibition at Salony Foundation will feature selected research from the artist’s residency.
Gregor Rozanski (born 1988) focuses on contemporary trends and contexts including various conceptual practices, ephemeral projects, multimedia, internet, found objects, sculpture, installations and drawings. His work was presented on the solo exhibitions at O’Artoteca Project Space in Milan, Para_Site Gallery in Graz and Contemporary Museum in Wroclaw. He also participated in group exhibitions, i.a. at National Library in Warsaw, Grimmuseum in Berlin, Vienna Biennale and Agency for Unrealized Projects during Art Basel 2011. He studies Visual Arts & Sculpture at Weissensee Kunsthochschule in Berlin and La Esmeralda Art School in Mexico City DF (2012-2013). In 2013 he was nominated to Artist Pension Trust. He lives and works between Berlin and Warsaw.
